Campaigns are typically delivered at a local level through the support of local authorities and other partner organisations. As part of the delivery of campaigns the department commissions websites to disseminate information to these partners.
There were a number of issues with this approach that the department wished to address. First of all, the style of communication for each website varied dramatically. Cost was incurred for the development of each website. Finally, the process to update these websites was inefficient and convoluted.
Greenhouse was asked to devise and implement a platform to enable the marketing division to publish campaign websites themselves. The websites needed to follow department brand but also needed space for their own identity. They needed to be able to publish varying types of content from collections of documents through to YouTube videos.
"Through identifying and listening to our stakeholders, greenhouse delivered a platform that gives clear benefits and value to those within the department and outside." David Chenell, DCSF
The resulting application has helped the department deliver campaign material consistently and quickly and has provided significant cost and administrative savings. Within six months of its launch, five campaign websites have gone live with many more to come!

Directgov develops its services in conjunction with central and local government. They include renewing your car tax, finding schools in your area and looking for jobs.
The challenge for Directgov was to coordinate the large number of stakeholder organisations and third party agencies developing services for its website. To do this they developed a set of visual brand guidelines for online services and required a specialist agency to implement those guidelines online.
A visitor to a Directgov service should know what to expect, where to look and have confidence in the service.
Over a period of two years Greenhouse produced a number of HTML and CSS templates as a code base for third parties to develop Directgov services. The templates have successfully been deployed across a wide range of services providing substantial cost and efficiency benefits internally.
