Back to Case studies Written on 02-Nov-2009 by damian_watsonDirectgov is the central government website for the public to access government information and services online. Directgov develops its services in conjunction with central and local government. They include renewing your car tax, finding schools in your area and looking for jobs.
The challenge for Directgov was to coordinate the large number of stakeholder organisations and third party agencies developing services for its website. To do this they developed a set of visual brand guidelines for online services and required a specialist agency to implement those guidelines online.
A visitor to a Directgov service should know what to expect, where to look and have confidence in the service.
Over a period of two years Greenhouse produced a number of HTML and CSS templates as a code base for third parties to develop Directgov services. The templates have successfully been deployed across a wide range of services providing substantial cost and efficiency benefits internally.
